Plant hire specialist expands Hitachi fleet

27 Sep, 2007

The new owner of a Dutch plant hire company has started to expand its fleet and provide customers with a broader selection of construction equipment. Boels has bought a range of Hitachi Zaxis excavators as part of its post-takeover expansion strategy.

The company – formerly known as De Block-Lambin – was established in 1953 and already operated 40 large Hitachi machines in its fleet. Boels acquired these assets as part of the takeover and was so impressed that it quickly placed an additional order. It now also offers mini- and mid-range Hitachi Zaxis excavators (up to 25 tonnes) for rent and will soon take delivery of a further six: three ZX135USs, one ZX210LC-3, ZX130W and ZX160W.

In addition to offering an extensive range of excavators, Boels can also equip each model with different attachments if required, such as hammers and crusher rotating clamshells. It is this level of service that has opened up the market for Boels with new customers in Germany and Belgium, as well as The Netherlands.

Jeroen Horman, Domestic Sales Representative at Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV, says: “The reliability of the Hitachi product range is important to Boels. It also recognises that Hitachi offers an excellent after-sales package. This is a major benefit to rental companies. Minimal downtime is vital when machines are contracted to go straight from one customer to another.”

Boels is now carrying on De Block-Lambin’s tradition of recommending the Hitachi brand. This means that its customers are also benefiting from the durability and versatility of the manufacturer’s product line-up.
