Higher Demolition Efficiency
In February, Lämmle Recycling GmbH, started demolition of an ancient brewery at Altenmünster in Germany. To execute the contract quickly and efficiently the company used the new Hitachi Zaxis 500 LC, equipped with a unique Genesis 'Quick-Connect-System'.
By employing such a world-leading innovation, the company is now able to change booms in only a few minutes. Work on the Altenmünster site showed the enormous benefit of the system when Lämmle changed from a long demolition boom to the shorter earth-moving/demolition alternative, five or six times a day.
The demolition enterprise had the advantage of being able to use the appropriate tool with minimum effort. During the demolition of the upper floors, the long front was used so that heights of 26m could be reached. Within a few minutes, and without leaving the cabin, the driver was able to switch to the excavation boom (or straight demolition boom).
A Lämmle company spokesperson cited several crucial reasons in favour of the Hitachi Zaxis 500 LC: "With mechanical exchange systems, several hours are usually necessary to change booms. This means much greater expense. Genesis Quick-Connect reduces this to about 20 euro for every exchange, which is just a fraction of the usual cost. The gain in safety is an additional plus, and the higher investment in this system will undoubtedly be recouped within a few months."
The excavator was supplied and delivered by the German dealer of Hitachi, Kiesel GmbH.
